Following Italy's success at the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup Europe Qualifier in Guernsey, Federazione Cricket Italiana representative Stefano Pieri has shared his thanks to Guernsey Cricket, its volunteers and partners for delivering what he described as an "outstanding ICC qualifying event."
Italy secured qualification for the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup after an impressive week of cricket, with many of their players experiencing international tournament cricket for the very first time.

Following the tournament, Stefano reflected on his team's experience in Guernsey:
"Representing Italy at this level is a very special experience for our Under-19 players. As one of Europe's developing cricket nations, opportunities to compete in ICC qualification tournaments are invaluable, providing our young players with exposure to a higher standard of cricket, different playing conditions and the chance to measure themselves against some of the best emerging talent in the region.
For this particular squad, the experience was even more significant. All but one of our players were representing Italy at an international tournament for the first time, and for many it was also their first cricket tour outside of Italy. To see them adapt, grow in confidence and embrace the responsibility of wearing the Italian shirt throughout the week was immensely rewarding. The tournament provided not only valuable cricketing lessons, but also life experiences that will contribute to their development both on and off the field.
The week of qualifiers was exceptionally well organised from start to finish. I would like to sincerely thank the Guernsey Cricket Board, particularly Richard, Carl and Jordy, for the outstanding work that went into planning and delivering the tournament. Every enquiry was handled promptly, professionally and always with a friendly approach, regardless of the time of day. Their commitment, together with the many dedicated volunteers who gave countless hours behind the scenes, played a significant role in making the event such a success.
Our stay at St Pierre Park Hotel also contributed greatly to the overall experience. The hospitality shown by the entire team was first class. Sara and her banqueting staff ensured that both players and officials were exceptionally well looked after throughout the tournament, while Sunil and the housekeeping team consistently delivered one of the most important services for any touring side-ensuring our laundry was completed efficiently, with every item returned on time and in excellent condition. The reception staff were equally welcoming and always ready to assist with any request.
From a cricketing perspective, I was genuinely impressed by the standard of the facilities in Guernsey. Having travelled extensively throughout Associate cricket, I can confidently say that the King George V (KGV) ground ranks among the finest venues at this level. The quality of the playing surface, the excellent outfields and the overall presentation of the grounds reflected the pride that Guernsey Cricket takes in its facilities.
For many of our players, this was the first time they had experienced playing on outfields and wickets of this quality. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to develop their game in professional surroundings and to appreciate the standards required at international level.
Overall, the tournament was a tremendous success, both on and off the field. Our players return home with invaluable experience that will benefit Italian cricket for years to come, and I would like to congratulate Guernsey Cricket on hosting an outstanding ICC qualifying event. I very much look forward to returning to Guernsey in the future."
