Guernsey Cricket Seeks Safeguarding Officer

1 min read

Guernsey Cricket is looking for a committed and approachable Safeguarding Officer to help provide a safe, positive and inclusive environment for children, young people and adults at risk involved in the game.

The Safeguarding Officer will be the main point of contact for safeguarding matters and will support clubs, coaches, volunteers, players and parents with guidance and good practice.

The role includes helping to maintain safeguarding policies and confidential records, supporting appropriate vetting processes, and ensuring concerns are recorded and referred to the relevant organisations where needed. It does not involve personally investigating allegations.

This is primarily a voluntary role, with an anticipated commitment of around 7–10 hours per month and flexibility over when those hours are undertaken. Occasional additional time may be needed during events or when a safeguarding matter requires attention. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. For the right candidate, Guernsey Cricket may consider a modest honorarium or nominal payment, depending on experience, qualifications and the responsibilities undertaken.

We would welcome someone who communicates well, handles sensitive matters with discretion and is organised in their approach. An understanding of safeguarding principles is important.

Experience in safeguarding, education, youth work, sport or community organisations would be helpful, but is not essential; the successful candidate should be willing to undertake relevant training. Appointment will be subject to appropriate vetting and background checks.
