Guernsey Cricket has launched a new Kit Recycling Initiative, aimed at giving unused or
unwanted cricket equipment a second life, both here in Guernsey and overseas.

The scheme, proudly sponsored by G&S Carpentry, invites islanders to donate their old bats,
pads, gloves, helmets, and other cricket gear, which will then be refurbished and reused in
Guernsey Cricket’s junior and community programmes. Any surplus equipment will be sent on
to ICC Affiliate nations in Eastern Europe and Africa, where access to cricket kit is often
limited.
Collection bins have been placed outside the Guernsey Cricket office, where players, parents,
and supporters can drop off items at any time.
Richard Headington, Chief Operating Officer of Guernsey Cricket, said:
“This is a fantastic community initiative that brings real purpose to unused cricket equipment.
Many families have bats and pads tucked away in garages or sheds that could make a huge
difference to a young player just starting out. By refurbishing and redistributing kit locally, and
sending any surplus to developing cricket nations, we’re helping to grow the game both at
home and abroad. We’re very grateful to G&S Carpentry for their support in making this
possible.”
Geoff Ballay, Director of G&S Carpentry, added:
“We’re delighted to partner with Guernsey Cricket on this initiative. It’s a great example of
how local businesses can play a part in supporting sport, sustainability, and community
engagement. Knowing that this equipment will be reused by children in Guernsey and shared
with emerging cricket nations overseas is something we’re really proud to be part of.”
Donations can be made at the Guernsey Cricket office at KGV during normal opening hours.
Items should be clean and in usable condition where possible.
