InfrasoftTech announce continued support for T20 Inter Insular Cup
Following the inaugural 3 match T20 Series played last season in Jersey, the Guernsey and Jersey Cricket Boards are delighted to announce that this fixture will become a permanent feature in the summer calendar. Furthermore, as in 2018, the matches will be supported by InfrasoftTech as title sponsor.
This year will see the return of the traditional 50over Inter Insular Trophy in August, and this in mind the T20 matches will become known as the InfrasoftTech ‘T20I Inter Insular Cup’, a new trophy will be secured and presented to the winning team.
Matches are to be played on:
Friday 31st May College Field 4.00PM
Saturday 1st June KGV 10.30AM & 2.30PM
(times subject to change)
Following the decision by the ICC to recognise authorised T20 fixtures played after 1st January 2019 between Associate Members as full Internationals the three matches will have this International status, adding to the prestige and honour afforded any ‘Green versus Red’ match up.
For the sponsors Wayne Gallichan, Senior Business Development Manager, commented “As we grow our business in Guernsey and Jersey, InfrasoftTech is delighted to continue sponsorship of the T20 cricket inter-insular. This inter-insular tournament will, as always, be competitive and ideal preparation for the ICC T20 Europe Final to be held in June. Playing sport on an international stage will promote the game and will be beneficial for the economy and the communities of both Islands.”
Mark Latter, Guernsey Cricket CEO said, “everyone here is very excited to have the opportunity to confirm these fixtures again and get another crack at Jersey. Equally, we are very grateful to Wayne Gallichan and the team at InfrasoftTech for their support in ensuring we can put on the proper event the matches deserve. This year will see a busy T20 schedule for Guernsey, including hosting the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup – Europe Final in June, and these games will assist that preparation immensely.”
Ward Jenner, Chairman of the Jersey Cricket Board added, "As the Jersey Cricket Board had hoped and anticipated, the 2018 InfrasoftTech T20 tri-series was extremely successful with exciting cricket and good support. We are delighted that InfrasoftTech have remained committed for the 2019 series and would like to thank Wayne Gallichan for his support in making this happen. 2019 is a big year for both Islands, and the fact that these games are now Full T20 International games gives JCB, GCB and InfrasoftTech the recognition they deserve".
There will be a BBQ and Bar in operation at College Field on the Friday night (31st May) run by, and for the benefit of, the OE’s Association, and KGV will also play host on the 1st June to spectators and corporate guests with the appropriate catering facilities.
