The GCB U19s played their first game of the season at the KGV this year.
It was against a strong Ardingly College, who were on a pre season tour to Guernsey for the first time.
It was excellent to get the first game under our belts along with using some of the expertise from the Ardingly coaches.
Mark Nash spent a few hours working with our spinners, which had great benefit.
During the match, Chris Perry took 4 wickets and James Hudson bowled with good consistency and also took a great catch off his own bowling.
The game itself was a low scoring game, the GCB batted first and only made 108 all out. After being 3 wickets for 3 runs in the first 4 overs, it took some excellent batting from Dan to get us to the total that we achieved.
Although I though it was 30 short of it being a good score, we put up a good fight in the field and it was good to get some overs in our legs.
Ardingly knocked the total off with one wicket left in the 43rd over. I was really pleased with the fight the lads showed and if we continue like that, we will win more games than we lose. We need to show the same confidence in our batting as we do bowling, which will only come from practicing hard and regularly
