I’m happy to announce that we are starting the new season off with some great news.
First of all, congratulations to Dan Le Messurier and Dec Martel, who have been invited to train with the National Squad.
Dan and Dec have worked extremely hard this winter and are now pushing for a spot in the XI. During the winter training sessions I have been impressed with their commitment to self-improvement. They have shown great determination and dedication, rising to every challenge set. This commitment has paid off and both players are now fast tracking their cricket.
Confirmation of ICC WCL5 being down in South Africa in early September has given the players a tangible goal to work towards. We have an exciting season ahead of us and it is great that we are already starting to plan for the tournament. With this competition being at the end of the summer all players have an opportunity to push for a spot in the team. A stronger team and healthy competition for places is a great thing; it will also help to strengthen club cricket and the island side.
We’re all looking forward to our first game this season which is a T20 against Netherlands A at KGV. So, mark the 28th April on the calendar and come and enjoy a beer and burger and support the Greens. We are looking forward to the new season and are counting on everyone’s continued support.
