Carey Olsen GCA Weekend Championship Player of the Month – May

Mavericks big hitting South African GH Smit was selected by the GCA as their Player of the Month for May following some typically swashbuckling performances with the bat and, a bowling performance that proves he has a gentler side.

During May GH blasted a 69 not out as Mavericks cruised past an Air Search Rovers total of 84 all out in just 8 overs, for a 9 wicket victory. The paltry Rovers score was in no small reason due to GH taking 4-21 with his sedate ‘tweakers’.

He followed this up with a 73 in a 3 wicket victory over PKF Wanderers in the same month to manage to shine during the showers that interrupted the first month of the 2007 Carey Olsen Weekend Championship.
