GCA Weekend Knockout Cup and Bowl
Sponsored by Carey Olsen
1. The participants in the GCA Weekend Knockout Cup and Bowl will be determined each year by the GCA upon receipt of details of the teams wanting to participate in the competition.
The participating teams in the GCA Bowl shall be split into Pools, the size and number of which will be determined by entries received. This will allow teams to play a given number of games (once) against each other side in their Pool. Following the completion of these games the qualifiers for the Semi-Finals and Final will be determined.
2.1 The General Registration Rule 10 (b) shall apply (for the GCA Cup, the registration rules relating to the GCA Championship shall apply).
2.2 No player who is currently registered in the first team of any GCA Championship club will be eligible to play in the GCA Weekend Knockout Bowl. No player who is registered for any team in Divisions One or Two of the Evening League will be eligible to play in the GCA Weekend Knockout Bowl. The Committee will decline requests for players to be de-registered if it is felt that the request is being made specifically to enable a player to participate in a lower competition.
2.3 An advance ruling on any player eligibility query should be sought from the GCA Weekend Cricket Representative or, in the event of his unavailability, the GCA Registrations Secretary.
3. Teams will be charged a competition entry fee.
4.1 The result of the match will be decided over one innings per team. Subject to below, in the event of a washout or abandonment, the match WILL NOT be replayed and a bowl out on the day will decide the rsult. During the Pool phase of the GCA Bowl competition, in the event of a No-Result on the day of the scheduled match, the Average Points system will apply, based on the league points scored by each team during the rest of the Pool phase. In the Semi-Finals and Final, in the event of a No-Result every attempt will be made to re-arrange the matches. If this proves impossible (and a decision on this will be made prior to the day of the match) then a bowl-out on the day will decide the match. For a bowl-out, each team shall select 6 people to bowl one delivery each and the team hitting the stumps most often will be declared the winner. In the event that, after 6 deliveries the scores are level, sudden death will decide the result. The first six bowlers may bowl again at the commencement of sudden death. Should the umpires or captains (the latter only in the event of no umpires being present) deem the conditions impossible for a bowl-out to take place, then the toss of a coin shall decide the result of the match.
4.2 In the event of the scores of both teams being the same, the team losing the fewer wickets shall be declared the winner. If still level, the team having scored the most runs after the completion of 20 overs shall be declared the winner. If stilI level, the team having lost the fewer wickets after the completion of 20 overs shall be declared the winner. If still level then the same comparisons will be carried out at the end of the 20th over/19th over etc. until a winner is determined.
5. A team which is unable to fulfil a fixture shall inform the Fixtures Co-ordinator, the opposing team and the umpires not less than 14 days prior to that fixture.
6. Evening League Rules t) and u) shall apply.
7 All matches are scheduled to be played on grass. If for any reason this is not possible, and if the ground is otherwise playable, then the game will be played on the artificial wicket at that same ground or, if not fit for play at that ground and if another venue is available then the teams should make every effort to move the game to that other venue in an effort to get the game played.
8. A reserve date will be set for the Final.
9. GCA Bowl - Rules 1, 2 (except in the Final), 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, (except in the Semi-Finals and Final), 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 of the GCA Weekend League Division 2 rules shall apply to all games.
9.1 GCA Cup - Rules 2, 3, 5, 9 (except for the substitution of 10 overs for 9 overs), 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 of the GCA Championship rules shall apply to all matches
9.2 GCA Cup - each innings shall consist of 50 overs. No bowler shall bowl more than 10 overs.
10. In the GCA Cup the fielding restrictions in Rule 7 of the GCA Championship rules shall apply, except that in the event of a GCA Cup match being reduced to between 44 and 49 overs per side, the fielding restrictions shall apply to the first 14 overs of the innings.
