Welcome to the Sirens Women’s Cricket Club web page. Here you will find up to date information on club news, fixtures (including socials) and results – basically all you need to know for the season ahead.

Who are we?

Formed in 2000 as a result of an idea among a small group of friends, the Sirens WCC prides itself on being Guernsey’s first and only all-female cricket club. Seven years and five competitive seasons later, the club is going from strength to strength and now boasts a squad of around 20. This has been boosted massively this year by a number of younger members, whom we hope will take the club forward in the future.

We started out having to borrow kit, but thanks to generous local sponsorship we are now fully kitted out. Everyone has had to learn the game from scratch and this has been helped enormously by our very patient and committed coaches who have happily given up their free time each week to teach us the basics. Without their fantastic help and support we would certainly not have come this far. The squad is improving with every training session and match played and given our enthusiasm and determination we hope to be recording many more victories this season.

Training

Our excellent indoor training programme was the perfect opportunity for us to build on what we learnt last year and train up our newcomers for the forthcoming season.

But now we’ve moved outdoors and summer training now takes place every Monday evening at Les Beaucamps School from 6 – 7.30pm. Training will be every week until the end of September. All newcomers very welcome.

Fixtures

We are playing in the Colts league once again which means we have a match every Friday evening during the summer months at the Memorial Field at Footes Lane.

In addition to these we will play numerous friendlies on weekends against other men’s’ and mixed teams.

New members are ALWAYS welcome – all you need is bags of enthusiasm! If you fancy giving cricket a go or you’d like to find out more about us then get in touch with any of our committee (names given below), we’d love to hear from you. Alternatively, why not pop along to one of our training sessions – you’ll find us at Les Beaucamps school every Monday evening from 6 – 7.30pm. It’s great fun and you don’t need any previous experience.

Let’s put it this way…what more could you want than spending three hours basking in the sunshine on a summer’s afternoon? (OK, we do expect the occasional century and diving catch!).
