Barclays Evening League May Cricketer of the Month

SALEMITE's Andrew Hutchinson has been named May's Barclays Player of the Month.

Not only is Hutchinson the first cricketer to be presented with this title this season, at just 14 he is the youngest in award's history.

The young Salemites all-rounder has just been called up to the team's Division One side in the Barclays Evening Leagues after some excellent performances in Division Six. This included a superb seven wicket haul on 17 May's outing against Sylvans B, conceding just 11 runs in his 4.1 overs.

Hutchinson has also showed some fine form with the bat, including an innings of 25 against St Saviours.

His efforts have not gone unnoticed by the Guernsey Cricket Association and Barclays who were only too happy to acknowledge the young player's achievements.

'We have a few excellent youngsters playing in the Barclays Evening Leagues,' said manager at Barclays and GCA member Dave Sinclair.

'The player of the month award goes some way to publicly recognise those players who have really given an outstanding individual performance for their team in the evening leagues. Andrew's excellent game where he took 7 for 11 wickets in one match was an outstanding achievement for someone of just 14 and a performance which makes him a very deserving winner.'
