NatWest To Sponsor Channel Island Club Championship in 3 Year Agreement
NatWest, who are the principal sponsors of the Jersey Cricket Board, have today announced a three year agreement with both Jersey and Guernsey Cricket Boards to be sponsor of the CI Club Championship which will become known as the NatWest Channel Island Championship.
Jerry Whitsey, Head of Products and Marketing for NatWest said, “ NatWest have been long term supporters of cricket in Jersey and we are delighted to now be able to extend our support across the islands with sponsorship of this major competition. We are very proud of the achievements of Channel Island Cricket particularly in terms of the international game and the development at grass root, school and club, levels. It is exciting to look forward as the islands compete at international level and hope our support helps them achieve the potential now seen”
Chris Minty, Jersey Director of Cricket commented, “The CI Club Championships is an important element of our annual cricket calendar as it allows the players of each island’s top clubs to gain extra experience as they meet different clubs and players from the rest of the season. It is vital if this type of competition is to happen that financial support is gained and we are very grateful for NatWest stepping in to support the NatWest CI Championships. We are conscious of how much their long term sponsorship has helped us here in Jersey in achieving our development and international ambitions and their support now for these Championships will further aid Channel Island cricket development”
Mark Latter, Hon. President Guernsey Cricket Association said, “To secure a long term deal with a sponsor having the presence of NatWest in the Channel Islands is a major coup for local cricket. The CI Club Championship is the premier Inter Island Club competition and, the nature of this financial package recognizes this. Having been fortunate to secure Aurigny.com as the preferred carrier for players during the tournament the involvement of Natwest ensures that battle may now commence!”
