GUERNSEY CRICKET STARS IN LINE FOR ANNUAL AWARDS
The upcoming award season has recognised many of Guernsey's stars from the 2011 season. After a tremendous year and remaining unbeaten in the 50over game the two big awards nights have seen a number of nominations for Guernsey Cricket...........
2011 Sportingbet Sports Personality of the Year
Guernsey cricketer Jeremy Frith: Guernsey's 'Mr Cricket' has been at the centre of all of the island's success in recent years. 2011 was yet another memorable year for Frith who was lethal with both bat and ball against countries from across the world.
The Sarnians headed to the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League 6 looking for promotion and a title win. Frith helped to deliver that ambition and was named man of the series for his efforts with both bat and ball. Before heading out to Malaysia, Frith played a starring role in a huge victory against Jersey with a superb innings of 129 and taking four for 30.

Clydesdale Bank International, Team of the Year
Guernsey Cricket: A superb comeback in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 6 final gave Guernsey Cricket victory and the title in Kuala Lumpur in September.
Chasing a Malaysian total of 208-9, Guernsey were quickly in trouble and were reeling at 65-7 before Tom Kimber stepped in to steer them to victory with an unbeaten 82 off 92 balls, passing the home sides score with just three balls and two wickets remaining.
That performance earned Kimber the Man of the Match award, whilst team-mate Jeremy Frith earned his third Player of the Tournament award.
Cenkos Coach of the Year Award
Andy Cornford - Guernsey Cricket: Under the guidance of Andrew Cornford, Guernsey Cricket had an outstanding year, with the highlight coming with a successful bid for promotion from ICC World Cricket League Division 6 in the heat and humidity of Malaysia in September.
The final itself proved an example of how the values of teamwork and discipline installed by Cornford ensured that Guernsey overcame an awful start to their innings to rally and win the game and the title, lifting themselves to number 33 in the world rankings.
