Players from both sides came together in a great show of inter insular solidarity with the cause and wore the blue wristband of the charity. Also on the day members of the local charity committee collected funds from spectators on the day. The Guernsey players had collected £670.00 previously from a number of activities and donated these on the day to the TCT. In all some £875.37 was raised on the day.
Present on the day were Helen Haynes the Regional Appeals Manager for the South East and Channel Islands from Teenage Cancer Trust along with Jay Aylmer and the other representatives of the local Guernsey committee. The crowd at the KGV were able to donate funds and also purchase TCT wristbands and badges to show their support.

Helen Haynes said of the association with GCB and the day; ‘On behalf of Teenage Cancer Trust, we would like to thank Guernsey Cricket and Marlborough Trust for their incredible support at the Marlborough Inter Insular Trophy 2011. Everyone enjoyed a great day of exciting cricket while showing their support for young people with cancer. We look forward to working closely with both organisations in the coming year as we work towards our goal of opening a new Teenage Cancer Trust unit in Southampton which will transform the way young people are treated for cancer in the Channel Islands.’
Mark Latter commented; “at the very beginning of the conversations with Marlborough it was clear the association with TCT was going to be very popular and that has been shown to be the case. The efforts of the local volunteer group in supporting families and children touched by cancer are fully deserving of the GCB’s support and we are delighted to be able to do our little bit. We are already talking to Helen and the team about ideas for a big event in 2012 so watch this space!”
