GUERNSEY WIN PEPSI ICC WORLD CRICKET LEAGUE 6 IN A THRILLER IN KL MALAYSIA

Guernsey recovered from the very brink to defeat tournament hosts Malaysia on Saturday and take the trophy after already finishing top of the round robin group after remaining unbeaten in the sweltering heat and humidity of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

At 65/7 all seemed gone when Tom Kimber strode to the wicket to join David Hooper but 96 runs later when Hoops (45) mis-judged a run to mid-wicket the pair had given Guernsey a sniff and Jamie Nussbaumer (17*) kept Tom company as they passed the Malaysia total of 208 when 'Kimbo' struck a majestic 4 with 3 balls to spare. Cue huge celebrations from all the other players and coaches and supporters who had gone out there.

Kimber's innings of 82 not out came from 92 balls and included 9 fours and a six, for many there it must rank as the greatest innings ever by a Guernsey cricketer and, one of the greatest individual performances by a Guernsey sportsman.

Kimber was adjudged Man of the Match and Jeremy Frith Man of the Tournament.

A thoroughly magnificent week of cricket which sees Guernsey now go to Singapore in February 2012 to face Argentina, Cayman Islands, Bahrain, Singapore and Malaysia in Pepsi ICC WCL5.
